GAZA CITY — An Israeli drone strike killed three Palestinians in Gaza City on Wednesday despite a ceasefire that has formally been in place since October 2025, according to Palestinian medical officials, in the latest deadly incident underscoring the fragility of the truce.
Medical sources said one man was killed after an Israeli drone targeted him near Municipal Park on Omar al-Mukhtar Street in central Gaza City. Two other Palestinians were killed and another person was critically wounded in a separate drone strike that hit a gathering of civilians in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in the northern part of the city, Palestinian medical officials and witnesses said.
The Israeli military said earlier on Wednesday that it had carried out separate strikes in northern Gaza, announcing that four Hamas members had been killed. The military identified the men by name but did not immediately comment on the reported civilian casualties or confirm whether the incidents were linked.
The latest deaths came amid continued reports of violence despite the ceasefire brokered in October 2025. Israel has said it continues to act against militants whom it considers an imminent threat, while Hamas has repeatedly accused Israel of violating the truce. U.S. and regional mediators have continued efforts to preserve the agreement, although negotiations over its implementation have remained stalled.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, more than 1,050 Palestinians have been killed and over 3,400 wounded in Israeli military actions since the ceasefire took effect. The ministry, which is run by the Hamas administration in Gaza, does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its casualty reports. Israel has previously disputed aspects of the ministry's figures while saying it targets militant infrastructure and fighters.
The war began after Hamas-led fighters attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking hostages, according to Israeli authorities. Israel's subsequent military campaign in Gaza has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials, displaced much of the enclave's population and caused widespread destruction.
No immediate announcement was made by either side indicating changes to the ceasefire arrangements following Wednesday's strikes, and mediation efforts aimed at sustaining the truce remained ongoing.
