FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms with tight end Kyle Pitts on a three-year, $54 million contract extension that includes $36 million fully guaranteed, the team and his agency confirmed.
The deal was reached on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Pitts, who had been placed on the franchise tag earlier this offseason, will not play under the one-year tender valued at about $15 million and instead will receive the guaranteed money over the next two seasons.
Pitts, the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Florida, is entering his sixth season with the Falcons. The 6-foot-6 tight end posted career highs in 2025 with 88 receptions for 928 yards and five touchdowns, according to team and league statistics.
The extension makes Pitts one of the highest-paid tight ends in the NFL. The average annual value of $18 million places him third at the position, behind San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, reports indicated.
Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham has prioritized locking up key young players this offseason. The team previously reached a contract extension with wide receiver Drake London.
Pitts' representatives at Athletes First announced the agreement on social media. "We are excited to keep Kyle in Atlanta," the agency stated in a post.
The contract is described as the largest three-year deal for a tight end in NFL history by total value, though it provides the Falcons with flexibility in the final year, sources familiar with the terms said.
Pitts has spent his entire professional career with the Falcons since being drafted as the highest-selected tight end in league history. He has developed into a key offensive piece under the team's current coaching staff.

The agreement comes as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Pitts is expected to participate in training camp and the preseason under the new contract.
