BURBANK, Calif.— Disney has set theatrical release dates for two high-profile franchise sequels, announcing that the live-action film Lilo & Stitch 2 will open on May 26, 2028, followed by Pixar's Incredibles 3 on June 16, 2028, as the entertainment company continues to build its long-term theatrical slate.
The release schedule was announced during the company's annual shareholders meeting, where newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Josh D'Amaro confirmed the dates for the two films. Both projects had previously been announced, but neither had received an official release date until now.
Lilo & Stitch 2 follows the commercial success of Disney's 2025 live-action adaptation of the 2002 animated feature. The original remake surpassed $1 billion in worldwide box office revenue, prompting Disney to move quickly on a sequel. Story details, cast announcements and the creative team for the follow-up have not yet been disclosed by the studio.
Pixar's Incredibles 3 will arrive a decade after Incredibles 2, which was released in 2018. Disney has said that filmmaker Peter Sohn, whose directing credits include Elemental, will direct the third installment. Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first two films in the superhero franchise, is returning as writer and producer for the new feature. Plot details remain under wraps.
