LOS ANGELES — Netflix is in discussions to launch a global concert tour based on its hit animated film "KPop Demon Hunters," seeking to expand one of its most successful franchises beyond streaming with a live stage production featuring music from the film, according to a source familiar with the talks.

The proposed tour would build on the popularity of the film, which became Netflix's most-watched movie following its 2025 debut and went on to win the 2026 Academy Awards for best animated feature and best original song for "Golden."

The source said Netflix has been negotiating with concert promoters about staging performances centered on the fictional K-pop group Huntrix and the film's soundtrack. Discussions have included a tour visiting dozens of major cities, with performances in arenas capable of holding roughly 10,000 to 20,000 spectators. The plans remain under development and could change before any official announcement.

According to the source, Netflix has received proposals from promoters that include substantial upfront financial guarantees, although the company had not selected a promoter at the time of the report. The source cautioned that the project could still be altered or shelved depending on creative and commercial considerations.

Industry reports have suggested the performances could feature songs from the film's soundtrack, though it remains unclear how Netflix would structure the live production or which performers would participate. The vocal performances in the film were provided by singers including EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, but no casting details for a potential tour have been confirmed.

Netflix did not publicly comment on the discussions when Reuters first reported the talks in March.

The project represents the latest effort by the streaming company to extend a successful intellectual property into live entertainment. Following months of speculation, Netflix formally announced during its 2026 Upfront presentation that it would partner with AEG Presents on a "KPop Demon Hunters" global concert experience, although dates, venues and ticket information were not immediately released. The company said additional details would be announced later.

The concert initiative comes as Netflix continues to expand the "KPop Demon Hunters" franchise. The company has also confirmed a sequel to the animated film, with the live tour expected to further develop fan engagement while broader franchise plans move forward.
