PHILADELPHIA—Police were investigating a series of separate shooting incidents reported across Philadelphia overnight into Wednesday that left multiple people wounded, authorities said, as detectives continued searching for those responsible.
The Philadelphia Police Department said the shootings occurred at different locations and were not believed to be connected based on the information available as of Tuesday. Investigators had not announced any arrests, and the motives remained under investigation.
In one incident late Monday night, a 35-year-old man arrived at a hospital after being shot when he was approached by three men dressed in dark clothing near the intersection of 25th and Huntingdon streets in North Philadelphia, according to police. The victim was reported in stable condition.
In a separate shooting later that night, another man was wounded after gunfire erupted in a different part of North Philadelphia. Police said he was also hospitalized in stable condition. Authorities said they were searching for as many as four suspects connected to the two incidents.
Investigators processed the crime scenes for ballistic evidence and reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences. Police urged anyone with information to contact detectives or submit anonymous tips through the department's crime tip line.
The overnight incidents followed several recent episodes of gun violence across Philadelphia that have kept homicide and shooting investigators busy during the summer months.
