Nagelsmann said the loss provided lessons ahead of the knockout phase rather than altering the team's overall objective.
"We will learn from it," Nagelsmann told reporters after the match. "We have to control the game better after taking the lead." He added that the starting lineup for Monday's match would be finalized after Sunday's training session.
Germany opened its World Cup campaign with a convincing victory over Curaçao before defeating Ivory Coast to secure early qualification from Group E. The defeat to Ecuador ended Germany's perfect record in the tournament but did not affect its place in the knockout rounds.
The coaching staff also continued to manage player availability during the group stage. Defender Antonio Rüdiger returned for the Ecuador match after replacing the injured Nico Schlotterbeck, who missed the final group fixture. Nagelsmann made several changes during the match, including midfield substitutions, but declined to criticize individual performances.
Ecuador coach Sebastián Beccacece described his team's comeback victory as the country's biggest World Cup win, praising his players for responding after a difficult start to the tournament. Ecuador's victory secured its place among the qualifying third-placed teams, while Ivory Coast also advanced from Group E after defeating Curaçao.
