PARIS — Mirra Andreeva captured her first Grand Slam singles title on Saturday, defeating Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska in straight sets to win the 2026 French Open women’s final at Roland Garros.
The 19-year-old Russian, seeded eighth at the tournament, secured the championship with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Chwalinska, who was playing in her first major final. The win marked Andreeva’s maiden Grand Slam trophy and completed a breakthrough run at the clay-court major.
Andreeva overcame an early exchange of breaks before taking control of the match, using her power from the baseline and consistent movement to pressure Chwalinska throughout the contest. The Russian pulled away after establishing a lead in the opening set and maintained momentum in the second to close out the final in two sets.
Chwalinska, ranked outside the top 100 before the tournament, had reached the final after a surprise run through the draw.
