NEW YORK — Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman” revival led the 2026 Tony Awards with six wins, including Best Revival of a Play, making the production the most-awarded play revival in Tony Awards history, according to the winners announced at the 79th annual ceremony.
The production, directed by Joe Mantello and staged on Broadway during the 2025-26 season, also earned awards for Mantello’s direction, Laurie Metcalf’s featured performance, and design categories including scenic design, lighting design and sound design.
The revival stars Nathan Lane as Willy Loman, the central character in Miller’s 1949 drama, with Metcalf and other cast members in the production that played at the Winter Garden Theatre. Lane was nominated in the leading actor category, while Metcalf won Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance.
Other major winners at the ceremony included “Schmigadoon!” which won Best Musical, “Ragtime” which won Best Revival of a Musical, and “Liberation,” which received the award for Best Play. “The Lost Boys” also collected four awards, matching “Schmigadoon!” and “Ragtime” with four wins each.
The Tony Awards recognize achievements in Broadway theatre, including productions, performers, directors and designers. The 2026 ceremony was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York and marked the conclusion of the Broadway awards season for eligible productions.
“Death of a Salesman,” first staged in 1949, has remained one of Miller’s most recognized works and has received multiple Broadway revivals over the decades. The 2026 production added to the play’s Tony Award history by setting a new record for the number of wins by a revival of a play.
The Tony results confirmed the production’s status as the leading award recipient of the 2026 ceremony, while Broadway organizers and producers continued with scheduled performances and post-awards activities for the winning shows.
